ART EXHIBITION: CRIS DEVIL – L’IMPROBABILE

ZANINI ARTE is pleased to present “L’improbabile,” a solo exhibition by the artist Cris Devil, under the patronage of the City, at the Monastic Refectory of San Benedetto Po (MN)

The vernissage, featuring a critical presentation by Sandie Zanini, will take place on Sunday, March 24, starting at 5:30 PM in the presence of the artist.

Over 30 contemporary works, including paintings, sculptures and digital artworks, will engage with the exceptional late 15th-century location, situated in one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages.

A clash between titans of art and beauty.

The Benedictine monastic complex, involving great names from the Renaissance such as Giulio Romano, Paolo Veronese, Correggio, Girolamo Bonsignori, Antonio Begarelli, accentuates the contrast between past and future in a contemporary context.

The exhibition immerses visitors in the unlikely spaces of the artist’s mind, evoking an initial sense of unexpected awe. Surreal settings, rich in strange yet coherent symbolism.

Cris Devil dedicates meticulous and devoted attention to every detail of his works, engaging in a relentless search for elements that seemingly and illusorily settle onto compositions in a distorted manner.

Nothing is left to chance, nothing is taken for granted. The artist plays to unexpectedly overturn the scene, disliking conventions and desiring patient dialogue with the observer.

This spirit and dedication echo the Benedictine monks who inhabited the San Benedetto Po complex for nearly eight centuries:

“Ora et Labora”

I feel the need and duty to involve the public with my art. My irreverence and sense of humor are reflected in my works, exploring complex themes in an original and often provocative way.” – Cris Devil.

The intimate and personal elements derive from the artist’s poetic imagination, his approach to life, and his passions. Simultaneously, they are communal, pointing to critical social themes in a globalized contemporary context, for better or worse.

Perspectives are inverted to reveal the duality between what seems and what is. It is up to the observer to discover more about the artist’s inner world, and perhaps their own.

The exhibition will run until April 28, 2024, with public access during the weekends.
