Mr. Brainwash

BIOGRAPHY

Mr. Brainwash was born in France but he moved to Los Angeles with his family at age 15 years old. In 1999, in France, thanks to his cousin, hiding behind the name of Space Invader, the young Mr. Brainwash starts to get passionate to Street-Art world. He starts using the pseudonym of Mr. Brainwash. 

In Los Angeles, in 2008, Mr. Brainwash finds out what Street-Art is. He meets Obey (Shepard Fairey), Bansky, Space Invader, and some others among the most important street artists of the moment. 

Mr. Brainwash enters the street art world also through his passion for the camera, since he was a kid he was used to filming everything. 

He opened his first exhibition-event entitled “Life is Beautiful” in 2008 in Los Angeles. In 2009 he created the cover for Madonna’s album Celebration, and in the same year he inaugurated his second Icons Exhibition in New York. Then follow a series of collaborations and meetings with personalities from the world of entertainment, art and music. 

Brainwash’s talents are showcased in creative partnerships with super known brands such as Hublot, Coca Cola, and Marvel Comics creator Stan Lee.  He also collaborated with world known soccer player Pelé, who joined the artist in splattering paint on select artwork. Mr. Brainwash undertakes worldwide solo exhibitions and residency at Art Basel each year, becoming one of the most popular street artists. 

In his colorful paintings, in full nei Pop Art style, we can find the principal ingredients of the Street Art movement as well. The use of the stencil and the spray can technique returns, he also refers to the two great masters of Pop Art : Warhol and Haring and fills his paintings with writings such as “Life is beautiful”, “Follow your dreams”. 

He his committed to several charity causes AIDS, LGBTQ; he met with former First Lady Michelle Obama in support of her organization, “Let Girls Learn” that helps adolescent girls attend and complete school; he was also honored to meet privately with Pope Francis in Rome to raise funds for Scholas, the Pope’s personal foundation to serve the youth of the world.
