Today, March 22, we celebrate International Water Day, an important moment to reflect on the importance of a resource that is essential for life. Water is at the foundation of every ecosystem, sustains societies, and supports human health, yet it is increasingly threatened by pollution, climate change, overexploitation, and the misuse of resources. Recognizing its value means taking responsibility for protecting and preserving it for future generations.
Cris Devil, V. Models
It is precisely on this theme that the artistic poetics of Cris Devil focuses. Through his works, the artist draws attention to water not only as a natural element, but also as a universal symbol of life, rebirth and, at the same time, fragility and loss. Thanks to innovative material experimentation with new physical and digital 3D techniques, he is able to create an immersive experience for the viewer.
Cris Devil, Il gioco delle apparenze
With a recognizable visual language, suspended between surrealism and contemporary neo-pop, Cris Devil captures our attention with vibrant colors and dynamic scenes that suggest a positive vision, while concealing—among many interpretative codes—a message of profound depth. His works stage compositions that directly concern us: poisoned rivers, seas suffocated by plastic, melting glaciers, animals on the brink of extinction, pollution, droughts, and floods. The contrast between visual lightness and the gravity of the subject invites a collective reflection on the present and the future of our society.
Cris Devil, Departure
In this way, rather than simply showcasing the beauty of water, he reminds us of what we risk losing and what we can still save. It is an invitation to look beyond the surface, to become aware of the environmental crisis and to reflect on our individual and collective responsibilities.
This environmental theme was at the heart of the major solo exhibition titled Elemento Acqua, held at the Casina Vanvitelliana in Bacoli (Naples).
Cris Devil’s works show us that art can be a powerful tool for raising awareness, capable of transforming consciousness into action. To look, to listen, and to reflect: this is the challenge the artist presents to us today, reminding us that every drop counts and that safeguarding water is a commitment that concerns us all.
