From December 6, 2025 to February 22, 2026, the former Gonzaga Episcopal Palace in Quingentole (MN) will host the institutional exhibition by Andrea Vizzini entitled “Syntactic Projections of Space”.
Curated by Massimo Pirotti and Sandie Zanini, the exhibition will present a selection of works specifically chosen by the artist, in dialogue with the 15th-century frescoes by Giulio Romano.
Andrea Vizzini, Nike
Andrea Vizzini, represented by the Zanini Arte gallery, is an expert in artistic techniques ranging from photography to computer art. A co-founder of the pre-Transavanguardia movement of the 1960s and 1970s, the artist consistently draws inspiration from Greek mythology and from selections of ancient sculptures he encountered during his travels in France and Greece.
His intimate, minimalist approach leads him to create works marked by a symbolic structure that reveals a vision of the world as a dichotomy of two opposing principles, combining figurative values with informal spatial layouts in a way never seen before.
In the rooms he envisions, silence seems to take on a substance of its own. It becomes a volume of shadow shaped by light, a geometric breath capable of holding time within its essential lines.
Andrea Vizzini, Love and Psyche
“Syntactic Projections of Space” alludes to a re-foundation of the very status of seeing: light and shadow, black and white, are not sharply separated, but interconnected by a subtle line. Thus, the architecture that emerges becomes a mirror of inner life, its geometry echoing a restrained, secular spirituality.
Andrea Vizzini’s works invite reflection on the fragile harmony of order, emphasizing the importance of a vision that does not confine itself to the realm of the purely sensible, but is endowed with something that presides over the mere construction of reality.
In particular, the Black & White Room series presents an aesthetic and a hermeneutics engaged in continuous dialogue, offering a refined interpretation of visual thought and its inner architectures. Every element, from the most solid to the most rarefied, contributes to a single meditation on perception, balance, and the fragile harmony of order.
