Artificial Beauty, the major institutional exhibition by Andrea Crespi at Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan. Curated by Sandie Zanini and Alisia Viola, co-produced by the City of Milan and under the Patronage of the Lombardy Region, the exhibition will be open to the public until January 25, 2026.
An artist represented by Zanini Arte, working between Milan and Miami, Andrea Crespi is today regarded as one of the most talented figures on both the national and international art scene. His artistic research focuses on creating works capable of triggering deep reflection, using both physical and digital media to represent the cultural transformations of our time. Through work rooted in contemporary aesthetics, he blends hybrid languages and layered visions to redefine the relationship between art, technology, and society.
“Artificial Beauty” encapsulates all of this: the concept of beauty becomes a field of media experimentation, where the physical and the digital exist in constant tension. The traditional notion of harmony gives way to new visual languages that shape a renewed body — a relational device in which the audience actively participates in the artistic process.
The questions raised have never been more relevant: What do we mean by beauty today? Who is the artist? How does technology now redefine our existence? The answers unfold in an exhibition that spans painting and sculpture, site-specific installations, and digital works, shaking the viewer and guiding them into the core of Andrea Crespi’s reflection.
Sandie Zanini, curator and project manager of the exhibition, explains: “For Andrea Crespi, experimentation is a means of self-discovery and, through self-understanding, a way to unleash creativity that shakes the viewer’s inner self — a process of mutual liberation. In this exhibition, he leads us through unprecedented temporal leaps, exploring a variety of media in a multifaceted way, while maintaining a consistent thread in the recognizability of his artistic signature. It is a surprising journey into the elsewhere of dichotomy, redefining the very concept of beauty.”
