The Academy of Fine Arts of Reggio Calabria, directed by Professor Pietro Sacchetti, presents DEMOlition Man. Francesco De Molfetta and the Art of Iconic Detonation.
A solo exhibition by the artist Francesco De Molfetta, also known as DEMO, curated by Professor Domenico Michele Surace.
The exhibition project was conceived as an opportunity to engage with one of the most original and multilayered trajectories in contemporary Italian artistic research. Through a complex process of reworking images, symbols, and archetypes drawn from art history, pop culture, politics, and the media universe, DEMO develops a critical reflection on the collective imagination and on the enduring power of icons in contemporary society.
The exhibition invites the public to reflect on the ways images are constructed, transformed, and continue to operate in the present, generating new interpretative perspectives and possibilities for understanding.

Promoted as part of the institutional activities of the Accademia di Belle Arti di Reggio Calabria, DEMOlition Man also takes on a strong educational dimension. The project actively involves professors and students in the various stages of planning, organizing, and producing the exhibition, transforming it into a concrete experience of advanced artistic education, where the educational dimension intertwines with curatorial and workshop-based practices.
The initiative also represents an important opportunity for openness toward the city and the local community, strengthening the relationship between the institution and the public while offering a space for encounter, reflection, and participation centered on the languages of contemporary art.
