On the occasion of Milan Art Week, UPRISE opens at Milan Malpensa, the new installation by Fabio Giampietro, an artist who for over twenty years has been dedicated to portraying urban transformation and the perception of the city.
Set up at Porta di Milano alongside works by the world-renowned photographer Steve McCurry, in Terminal 1 of Malpensa Airport, the exhibition will run until October 2026. It is produced by the digital art museum MEET and curated by Maria Grazia Mattei.
The work transforms a transit space into an immersive experience, blending painting and digital art: on one side, large physical canvases from the Vertigo series and a triptych depicting an alternative Milan; on the other, a digital version displayed on a 12-meter LED wall, accompanied by original sound design by Human Touch and Alessandro Branca.
UPRISE invites travelers to experience the city in motion, suspended between reality and vision, opening up alternative scenarios and redefining the relationship between art and urban space, presenting a city in constant evolution.

Also at Malpensa Airport, the permanent exhibition by Andrea Crespi, Every Journey (Love is the Destination), continues—an installation created in collaboration with the MA*GA Museum that accompanies departing travelers in Terminal 1. Composed of twenty plexiglass panels with optical patterns and adhesive vinyl, the work plays with optical illusion and the vibration of colors to convey a universal message: love as the driving force behind physical, emotional, and spiritual journeys.

At Venice Airport, also during the inauguration of the 61st edition of the Venice Biennale, Andrea Vizzini takes center stage with the exhibition Interni Teoretici. Visioni sulla Laguna at Marco Polo Airport, on view until June 30, 2026. The series features three large-scale works that transform the terminal into a window onto the lagoon and a Venice of myth and painting, with terraces suspended between dream and architecture. The works, created using a mixed technique of acrylic and oil, invite travelers to slow down, contemplate, and move through a mental landscape suspended between past and present, reinforcing the importance of art in the so-called “non-places” of transit.

With these installations, Italian airports are transformed into spaces of discovery and contemplation, where art and travel meet.
Fabio Giampietro, Andrea Vizzini, and Andrea Crespi demonstrate how contemporary creativity can engage with everyday life, offering travelers moments of reflection, wonder, and beauty, while also emphasizing the importance of bringing art beyond museums, making it accessible and alive even in the most unexpected places of transit.
